We have spoken about this before but customer reviews (or testimonials call them what you will) are the most powerful way that you can stand out from your competition. As the creation of the reviews is typically out of a business owners hands, most actually don’t bother to explore this route as a powerful way to get more business through the door.
Here are seven simple tactics that could help you gather those all important testaments for your business.
1. Use any offline paperwork to highlight the main areas where your clients can leave a review, include a printed request for a review and tell them where they need to go and how to do it!
2. Use your email footer and link directly to your review site (this could be your website, a major online review site – yelp or qype, or even your local business centre listing)
3. Request reviews on your website – you can even give a link back to the reviewers website if you want to to help with their linking strategy
4. Create and distribute a customer survey with one of the questions being ‘what would you say about our business to your colleagues’ then ask for permission to post the results
5. You can use discounts and incentives for reviews, but the review must still be an honest one and you must still honour the incentive if the review is negative.
6. Use the Social network buttons – by liking your page that is an endorsement in itself
7. Actually just ask, once you have a delighted customer, its on the point that they are just leaving your establishment that they will feel inclined to write something good about you...don't be afraid to do it!
Just by implementing these simple tactics in your business (and they really don’t take a lot of time honestly) you’ll be amazed at how quickly you can gather reviews which will ultimately help you market your business, and don’t worry about negative reviews (we’ll write an article on how to deal with these next month) you can actually turn them round in your favour
Remember these days it’s not what you’re saying about your product or service that counts but more what your clients and prospects are saying to each other!
